Virtual Items and Support Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-21

1. Scope and acceptance

This Virtual Items and Support Policy (this “Policy”) governs your purchase and use of GlotTale virtual items, including the gifts you can send to show support for a work (collectively, “Virtual Items”). This Policy operates together with the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Where this Policy contains more detailed rules for Virtual Items, this Policy controls for that subject.

By purchasing a Virtual Item, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Policy. If you do not agree, you must not purchase Virtual Items.

2. What Virtual Items are

Virtual Items are digital products offered and sold by GlotTale as the platform. When you buy a Virtual Item, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use that item within the Service for its intended purpose, such as expressing support for a work.

Virtual Items are not money, currency, deposits, credit, or any kind of stored value. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash by you, cannot be transferred or resold, and do not accrue interest. GlotTale may add, modify, reprice, or discontinue Virtual Items for product, operational, legal, or technical reasons.

3. Purchasing and payment

The price of each Virtual Item is shown before you confirm your purchase. Prices are presented in US dollars (USD) and are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. You authorize GlotTale, through Stripe, to charge the payment method you provide for the amount shown at checkout.

When you choose to support a work, your purchase is associated with that work so that the support can be attributed correctly. You must only use payment methods that you are authorized to use. GlotTale collects these payments as the platform and is the seller of the Virtual Items; GlotTale does not act as a payment agent for individual creators.

4. No refunds

Virtual Items are digital products that are delivered and made available to you immediately upon purchase. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, all purchases of Virtual Items are final and non-refundable, including where a Virtual Item has been sent or used.

This does not affect any non-waivable rights you may have under the consumer-protection laws of your location. If you believe you were charged in error — for example, a duplicate charge or a technical fault — contact us at the address below and GlotTale will review the matter in good faith. Payment disputes and chargebacks are handled through Stripe; initiating a chargeback for a properly delivered Virtual Item may result in restrictions on your account.

5. How support reaches creators

When you buy a Virtual Item to support a work, you are purchasing a product from GlotTale. GlotTale separately shares a portion of the revenue from Virtual Items with the relevant creator under the Creator Monetization and Withdrawal Agreement. That revenue share is an internal arrangement between GlotTale and the creator.

You do not enter into a payment, donation, or contractual relationship directly with the creator by purchasing a Virtual Item, and you do not acquire any right, ownership, or claim over a creator’s account or earnings. The amount a creator ultimately receives is determined by GlotTale’s arrangement with that creator, not by the price you pay.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use Virtual Items or the support feature to launder money, finance unlawful activity, make payments using unauthorized or fraudulent payment methods, manipulate platform metrics, harass a creator, or circumvent platform rules, account restrictions, or applicable law. GlotTale may decline, reverse, or restrict purchases, and may take account-level action, where fraud, abuse, sanctions, legal, or risk concerns arise.

7. Changes and availability

GlotTale may update this Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on the platform and identified by the “last updated” date shown on this page. Your continued purchase or use of Virtual Items after an update means that you accept the updated Policy. GlotTale may also modify, suspend, or discontinue the support feature or particular Virtual Items, in whole or in part, for product, operational, security, legal, or technical reasons.
